CPSM Study Group

Earning your CPSM designation proves proficiency in the domain’s knowledge areas and skill sets and sets the bar for professional expertise and excellence. When you apply for the CPSM program, you are taking your first step toward joining a group of 900+ professionals who have made a commitment to professional excellence, career advancement, and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge through the domains, which outline the day-to-day functions of professional services marketers and business developers.

To sit for the CPSM exam, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree or an advanced degree plus four years of experience in marketing or business development for firms providing professional services, or
  • Possess an associate’s degree plus six years work experience in marketing or business development for firms providing professional services, or
  • Without a degree, have eight years of experience in marketing or business development for firms providing professional services

In addition, all candidates must pledge to abide by the CPSM Code of Ethics.

The SMPS Nashville Chapter hosts a CPSM Study Group to provide a support system as certified professionals review the six Domains of Practice:

  1. Marketing Research
  2. Marketing Planning
  3. Client and Business Development
  4. Proposals
  5. Promotional Activity
  6. Management

The study group meets for two 1.5-hour sessions for each domain, beginning in January of 2020. The domains are in the MARKENDIUM: The Essentials, a six-book series that further desinges the SMPS Domains of Practice. Logistical details about our study group will be communicated soon. Interested in joining? Contact Justin Davidson at [email protected] or visit www.smps.org/learning/certification/ to learn more.
