In just under a month, the 2018 Southeastern Regional Conference (SERC, also recognized as SunBuilt) will kick off in Atlanta! If you haven’t yet registered, what’s wrong with you?! But in all seriousness, I highly recommend you give some serious consideration to attending this informative and fun conference.

I’ve attended the past four years, and it’s a conference that I look forward to year after year. With executable education sessions and plenty of networking time, SERC is a “can’t miss” event and this year is no exception.

In reviewing the program for this year’s conference, Atlanta has really knocked it out of the park! Tim Asimos is delivering a keynote on Tuesday morning; I’ve heard Tim’s presentations on digital marketing, social media and websites at past conferences and his sessions are always informative. I’m excited to hear him present on how to elevate the role of marketing in a firm and learn some nuggets to help achieve this upon returning to Nashville.

If your responsibilities include communications and public relations, make sure to catch the “All Star Communications” session Tuesday afternoon. Emily Fors has presented two educational sessions to the chapter recently and she never fails to include the how, along with the why (and if communications isn’t something you’re comfortable with, then the how is so valuable!).

There are a few other familiar faces in the program lineup including Susan Murphy, Danielle Gray and our own Donna Corlew. They’ve all presented to the chapter in recent years, but you can rest assured that their sessions at SERC will be relevant and fresh.

If you’re still on the fence about attending, then one thing to know is that this conference is FUN! With an average attendance of 225, the conference is large enough to have a variety of sessions that appeal to different roles and responsibilities, but is intimate enough that you can build relationships with peers from across nine (9) SMPS Southeastern Chapters.

Monday night’s welcome reception and dine-around are great opportunities to catch up with old friends or meet new ones. Tuesday night’s social event at the brand-new SunTrust Park is something that we’ll be talking about for years to come. Not only will there be traditional ballpark food and live music, but I’ve heard that an Atlanta Braves alum could be making a special appearance (which makes me, an Atlanta native, giddy with excitement!).

If you’re ready to pack your bags, then let me know and we can set up a caravan to Atlanta! Make sure to book your hotel by Friday, February 10th to guarantee your room at the Omni. Click here to see the full conference schedule and to register today! See you in Atlanta!

Sincerely,

Lauren Dean
